Mountain home Rastište

Tara National Park
Mountain Home RASTIŠTE commenced its work in the summer of 2015. Once a village primary school in the hamlet of Sedaljka has become recognised by our club, after it stopped working, as an ideal place for developing a serious mountaineering centre in this exceptionally interesting part of Tara Mountain.

The facility has got the total of 26 available beds, 9 in the newly furnished mountaineering suite and 17 in the grand dorm. During 2016, new sanitary blocks were built in the facility, with 6 showers and 6 toilets in total. The Mountain Home provides a joint space for socialising, a kitchen and a spacious summer house in the backyard. There is an ongoing work invested in improving the Mountain Home residing quality by replacing the beds and adding new contents. The backyard is suitable for tent camping, whereas the toilets with accompanying showers are specially detached for the campers’ use only.

Mountaineering tracks start from this position to the one of a kind Tara viewpoints Banjska stena, Bilješke stene and Orlov vis. Markations lead all the way to the mountaineering tracks hub in Čemerište, as well as to the Kremići hamlet, in the vicinity of Jokića vrela. There is an archeological site of medieval  stećak tombstones – Mramorje, only 500m away from the Mountain Home, which have had UNESCO protection since 2016.

The facility is 2km away from the Perućac Lake, and it takes only a 15 min ride to get to the Predov krst by driving up the asphalt road, which is another ideal starting point for mountaineering road trips toward the Veliki kraj, Drlije, Sjenič and the highest peak of the Tara massif – Veliki Stolac (1675m of elevation).
